$5 Challenge

On KSL (channel 5 in my neck of the woods) they are having a $5 Challenge. You have to make something while only spending $5 AND you have to use 1 item that you already have. Tricky Tricky! The first time I heard this I knew I had to take a short, since Monday I've been searching the web for inspiration and spraining my brain for something creative I could make. Then I found it! Money Munching Monster Coin Purses. I found the idea at Create One Day. I loved the idea but I had to dress it up a bit AND use something that I already had. This is what I came up with:

I think he's really cute! I used a washcloth for the body, Rick Rack for the teeth, a Red zipper for the mouth, and big googly eyes! I really hope they pick me! If they do I win over $1,000 worth of crafting supplies including a new sewing machine, quilting lessons, and tons of scrapbook paper! If I'm a finalist everyone needs to vote for me!!! I can't wait to find out! Wish me luck!!!

My Big Boy

I just had to share this great picture of my beautiful boy.
It was taken at my sister's Wedding Reception by her photographer.
I did the editing and I think he looks so handsome!
Enjoy!

Taco Soup

I know! I know! It's been a LIFETIME since I've blogged so I thought I would get things moving with an amazing one. This is my recipe for Taco Soup. I got it a few years ago from the Paula Dean website. I'd just like to day I love her! If I could I would eat only her recipes but then I'd be 8,000 lbs and have no money. But anyways, I took her recipe and tweaked it to my liking. I love it and hope you love it too.

Taco Soup
  • 1pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 can pinto beans
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can whole corn
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomatoes with chilies
  • 1 can black olives, drained, sliced
  • 1 package taco mix
  • 1 package ranch salad mix
Cook onion. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain fat and put beef into a crock pot. Add beans, corn, diced tomatoes, and tomatoes with chilies. Make sure to use add all liquids, too. Drain olives and add. I use whole olives and slice them myself (I think you get more that way) but you can use the already sliced one instead but I would use two cans.

Add the Taco Mix and Ranch Mix.

Stir all the ingredients together. Cook on LOW for about 6 hours or HIGH for 3 hours (the longer the better).

This soup is good alone but it's even better with cheese, sour cream, and chips mixed in. Give it a try, I think you'll love it!

I couldn't even get the start up screen to come on. Luckily, Miss F and my dad were able to take my computer for some checking and doctoring. Now, I have my wonderful computer back. I can get back to my favorite pass time, Blogging! So thank you Miss F for all of your hard work! Love You!!
