$5 Challenge

On KSL (channel 5 in my neck of the woods) they are having a $5 Challenge. You have to make something while only spending $5 AND you have to use 1 item that you already have. Tricky Tricky! The first time I heard this I knew I had to take a short, since Monday I've been searching the web for inspiration and spraining my brain for something creative I could make. Then I found it! Money Munching Monster Coin Purses. I found the idea at Create One Day. I loved the idea but I had to dress it up a bit AND use something that I already had. This is what I came up with:

I think he's really cute! I used a washcloth for the body, Rick Rack for the teeth, a Red zipper for the mouth, and big googly eyes! I really hope they pick me! If they do I win over $1,000 worth of crafting supplies including a new sewing machine, quilting lessons, and tons of scrapbook paper! If I'm a finalist everyone needs to vote for me!!! I can't wait to find out! Wish me luck!!!

My Big Boy

I just had to share this great picture of my beautiful boy.
It was taken at my sister's Wedding Reception by her photographer.
I did the editing and I think he looks so handsome!
Enjoy!

Taco Soup

I know! I know! It's been a LIFETIME since I've blogged so I thought I would get things moving with an amazing one. This is my recipe for Taco Soup. I got it a few years ago from the Paula Dean website. I'd just like to day I love her! If I could I would eat only her recipes but then I'd be 8,000 lbs and have no money. But anyways, I took her recipe and tweaked it to my liking. I love it and hope you love it too.

Taco Soup
  • 1pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 can pinto beans
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can whole corn
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomatoes with chilies
  • 1 can black olives, drained, sliced
  • 1 package taco mix
  • 1 package ranch salad mix
Cook onion. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain fat and put beef into a crock pot. Add beans, corn, diced tomatoes, and tomatoes with chilies. Make sure to use add all liquids, too. Drain olives and add. I use whole olives and slice them myself (I think you get more that way) but you can use the already sliced one instead but I would use two cans.

Add the Taco Mix and Ranch Mix.

Stir all the ingredients together. Cook on LOW for about 6 hours or HIGH for 3 hours (the longer the better).

This soup is good alone but it's even better with cheese, sour cream, and chips mixed in. Give it a try, I think you'll love it!

I couldn't even get the start up screen to come on. Luckily, Miss F and my dad were able to take my computer for some checking and doctoring. Now, I have my wonderful computer back. I can get back to my favorite pass time, Blogging! So thank you Miss F for all of your hard work! Love You!!

Ok Everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been around. My computer died and it was taken to Las Vegas for a Check up and a Clean out so I haven't had internet access. As soon as I have it back I will be back at my blogging post. I miss it. I'm having withdrawls! Can wait to get back at it!

Date with Nate-Week 4

This weeks Date with Nate was...Drum roll please... A Wii Night! We love our Wii, I'm cheap but it was really worth the money we paid for it. I can work out, play games, see the weather, watch the news, and now you can even get netflix on it. Amazing! (Ok. Enough about the wii)

We bought a new game (used) at our local Game Stop to play tonight; actually we wanted a different game but this one got bought by mistake. I thought that since this was a completely stay at home date that I would have some fun by getting creative in my clothing. While Nate was putting G to bed I grab some old Halloween tights, my swim shorts, and a head band. Then with some interesting make up and hair styling, I was ready! The results are below...My alter ego, Crusher (If I was ever to be a roller derby girl, which I really want to be, this would be my costume and name!).

Nate love it and thought I was super cute! We popped in our new game (Carnival Games) and started the smack talk. I have to admit that I am more guilty of smack talk than Nate is but how can you not when you are dressed like the Crusher!

This is my Game Face. Grrrr....

A few things I learned during our Wii night. I'm a contender and Nate is a macho man. I can't shoot a basketball or throw darts. Nate is a dead eye when it comes to shooting ducks. I am a dunk master. This was a great date. Nate kicked my but by winning 12 games to my 6 but there was some gloating on my side when I actually did beat him at something. In the end, I had to scoop Nate's ice cream because he won but I didn't mind because it was great just to spend some one on one time with my hubby.

One of my gloats

Nate doing the strong man-like I said, he's a macho man

I really do love my hubby and it nice to be with him as just the two of us; a boy and a girl that love each other and want to spend quality time together. It's great to date your husband. There's no worry about if he likes you or if he'll think you are weird (because in my case, he already knows that I am and he loves me for it!).
